The Weather Channel: Forecast App Reviews

Ridiculously inaccurate forecasts. Slow to update. Caught in a downpour when the app states 0% chance of rain!

Well they asked for the rating so here it is. 5 years ago I paid for the "Weather channel" app for a reason. Then 3-4 mos ago they did away with it and u were automatically downgraded to free version. There are a LOT of differences. It has same info even a little more however I find its not as user friendly and I get frustrated because I keep up with several different towns/states of friends and family. I know Ill get used to it and I guess I got my $6 worth out of original but I feel they shouldve upgraded free people and made changes to paid version. Still use it and no other tho.

The old Weather Channel Max was perfect. This one is clumsy & confusing. Even 1 star is too many. I hope a revision is made soon so its more like Max.

The forecast changes minute to minute saying theres 80mph wind gusts (in AZ) when its only 20 or saying theres no rain in the forecast and it ends up raining all day! We checked the weather for a vaca location for 10 days, watching it very carefully to see which day would be best for the outside activities. It reported GORGEOUS outside weather our whole trip supposedly getting better every day but the day after we arrived, BOOM - rain. And as is the Weather channels MO, their forecast changed that morning. Horrible app!!

Setting aside having purchased the ad free upgrade, a free year of this crap is an insult. Its pretty, waste the whole first page with a tiny bit of info and pictures of landscapes and plants that have nothing to do with my local or the current weather . You have to scroll down to find real info past their annoying videos and excerpts from their shows (kinda like an ad) to find real info. Radar is way at the bottom, right next to ski slope conditions (I live in the South!?), thats the first thing most folks go to. When you find temps and forecast you then have to scroll sideways. If they got the best programmers and designers together to create the worst possible update they still couldnt top this mess. And the ironic thing is it was great before.

So this app used to be good but now its absolutely awful. It could say that it is going to thunderstorm today but there wont be even a cloud outside. They change the prediction so often that it seems like they are spinning a giant wheel to find out what they should "predict". To add to the awful predictions, the amount of scrolling you need to do is ridiculous. If you want an actual weather app, get anything thats not this.

Best in our time zone. Gets more accurate then local news.

The older version were excellent, the current one horrible. They took out so many features, its no longer have 3-4 days Marine weather. What happened to TWC ?

The Weather channel app is the best. I especially like the radar.

This has got to be the most adware infected app on the web or smart phone!!! Click this, like that, lol at this, all because you just want to take a quick look at your weather forecast. Something that should only take 30-45 seconds now takes 5 minutes.

If it werent for all the video content from the Weather Channel that no one wants to see, this would be a great app! All of Weather Channelss ads and dumb videos of cows in hail storms ruin this app. Please bring back the simplified Weather Max that we paid for!

Ive used this app for quite sometime. I didnt pay for it and the ads dont bother me at all. The information is pretty easy to follow and has always been pretty accurate. Perhaps Im not high maintenance and dont require for this app to make my life easy. It shows me what I want to see when it comes to weather. I recommend it all the way.

This works!

This version of the app forces me to scroll past extraneous videos, ads and photos to get to the actual weather info (even in the ad free version). I preferred the ease and speed of one tap for 10 day weather, then one tap for hourly. Thats the info I want. On the plus side, the app now provides a 15 day forecast, and a tap on any day takes you directly to more detail about that day. The hourly forecast now also covers 48 hours.

Like the app very helpful in planning vacations and weekend trips.

Sends relevant push info. Well thought out app.

Great weather app but sometimes when I zoom out, which is every time, the time lapse will run but the radar images disappear.

Minimal information, and when there is information it has to do with other areas nowhere near me.

Half the time I pull open the map to see rain or what not it wont render anything. Sometimes zooming will help but even then other times the time scales it chooses are irrelevant and are of no use.
